Hartselle Utilities is a public utility distributor serving approximately 6,000 electric customers throughout the City of Hartselle. Our Electric Department is known for maintaining a reliable, well-maintained electric distribution system while providing safe, dependable service to our customers.
We’re seeking experienced Class A and Class B Journeyman Linemen to join our outstanding Electric Department.
Hourly Pay: $40.00–$46.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and certifications.

Minimum Qualifications
Class B Journeyman Lineman
- High school diploma or GED with Algebra I or equivalent (basic electricity coursework preferred).
- Completion of an approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program acceptable to Hartselle Utilities.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an apprentice lineman in the construction and maintenance of electric distribution and transmission lines, including hot-line work.
Class A Journeyman Lineman
- Completion of an approved Advanced Lineman training program acceptable to Hartselle Utilities.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Class B Journeyman Lineman.
Additional Requirements
- CPR/First Aid certification acceptable to Hartselle Utilities.
- Current Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL), or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- Must be insurable under Hartselle Utilities’ fleet insurance policy.
- Must reside within a 15-mile radius of Hartselle Utilities’ electric pole yard.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and participate in the rotating on-call schedule.
- Ability to travel for required training.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening and participate in random drug testing.
